Our little herb garden is doing well, and with sunnier day forecast, should be even better. so far weve got rosemary, thyme ( 3 varieties), celery, parsley, lemon grass,mint.Also near the entrance to our car park, we've planted an olive tree so in a few yrs time shld get some thing out of it, +bay leaf and a whole bed of rosemary.Nothings better than a few sprigs of fresh herbs for that ooomph flavour!!

We are doing an amazing spice coated batter fried fish , like an Indian verison of the Kiwi "fush and chups", its a must try, not available for very long though.

Grill Room September 8th

We had a fantastic night in the Grill Room tonight. A great atmostphere was created when locals (some of whom had taken the opportunity to book using our super easy on line booking form), and hotel guests dined together. Chef Yash's desserts are proving very popular but remember to pace yourself, those 600g steaks really are HUGE!!!

Spring has Sprung...

We currently have some amazing golden kiwi ice cream, from locally sourced golden kiwi fruit courtesy of Riverton orchard, which ive used to make some ice cream flavoured with rosemary and pacific sea salt crystals.

Facebook Emerald Hotel Gisborne: "Our new menu kicks off in the Grill Room on Wednesday September 1st. We've added Angus steaks to the menu as well a 500g T-Bone to go with the Grill Room Big Eat 600g Rib Eye. Some middle eastern and asian tones, vegetarian options and something for the non steak eaters as well. Watch out for Chef Yash's wicked desserts too."

New lighting at our front door

Guests and locals alike will now be able to find the Emerald Hotel & Conference Centre entrance after dark. Installation of our new outside lighting was completed today, it looks great come and check it out.

It was installed by Laser Electrical thanks guys, well done.

Great time with our Japanese Guests from Nonoichi to celebrate 20 years of sister cities

The Emerald Hotel wishes the best as they travel home after being with us for a few days...

Twenty years of sister-city relations are celebrated this week with the visit to Gisborne of a delegation from Japanese city Nonoichi.

A party of 33 Nonoichi visitors, including the city’s mayor and mayoress, town officials, citizens, principals, teachers and students, are here until Thursday.
